Sure it's not NGR (neutral gear rattle)? That's the "nature of the beast". Sometimes a change in tranny fluid may help.

Frankie,

Yes that noise is normal. NGR is the rattle you hear while in neutral at a stoplight. More noticeable when the car is hot.

The noise should be there when you are at a stop and the car is in neutral. Disengage the clutch (push the pedal in) and the noise goes away = Normal

98's came with Automatic Transmission Fluid. Dexron III. If you put in gear lube, the noise is less noticeable.

You need Mopar's synthetic transmission fluid. Part # 04874459. I have a very late 98 and mine came with it, but earlier cars did not.

Normal Frankie. Like Geoff said you could change the fluid to the Mopar Synthetic and that will get rid of about 50% of the noise. As for fitzgerald they would tell you it sunny and 70 in the middle of January up there!! They get a big "L" in my book! You want the right Info on your Viper? Call me.
