Question for the group: Went to the strip last night to run my car w/ new Roller Rockers installed. First car up,(was a drag strip car) hits the juice, literally goes airborne, takes out the light tree, the front of his car, and a good chunck of guard rail stopping 20 feet away from the crowd and my viper mechanics 10 year old. Luckily he walked away and no one was hurt. So, if I was sitting next to him and he took out my car, insurance? Is there special insurance you can buy for track days? All I am thinking about today is I am glad I was not running next to him. (The other car was like a mustang so it was 20 plus feet behind him) Thanks for input!

You should of course check your particular carrier, but most normal auto policies will NOT cover you for timed racing.

I wouldn't worry about who will pay for your car. the real worry is who would pay if you were seriously injured. I guess your own policy would probably cover it but if you were to cause injury to someone else, they would come after you and you would have no coverage at all.
Racing high powered cars can be very dangerous.
After seeing what you saw you know that.
And it's a felony if you actually say it was a deer.

Many policies will not cover any claims once you enter the "racing facility". This includes the parking lot. You need to read the fine print.

Joe has a good point. If your car hits a by-stander, then you have real trouble on your hands. If your insurance is void at the track, they can come after your personal assets.

You can buy track insurance. It is expensive. It depends on the value of your car. They will sell you 30 days of coverage. You pick the 30 days you want it active. But it will be over $3000.

The Track will pay for bodily injury, or loss of life. They have insurance BUT you are not covered unless you sign on the waiver that they give you entering the track. A lot of people skip over the signing part thinking they are giving up thier right to sue. This is a very important fact that few people know. I know SCCA used to cover up to 5 mil cat. injury & 2 mill liability.
