in the process of upgrading from a 1998 RT/10 to either a 2002 ACR or GTS, I have heard the ride of the ACR is terrible. any thoughts would be appreciated. the car would be a non track car other then some 1/4 mile runs occasionally.

If you are not going to take your Viper to the track, then get a GTS, you will have saved $10K over the ACRs price, which you could put toward modifying your car for what you intend to use it for.

$10K should get you in low 11s-high 10s. call BTR and JohnB

headers + NOS from BTR
Wheels + drag radials + Unitrax half shafts + rearend from JohnB

Good luck

If you go with one of those run-of-the-mill GTS's, you will wish you had bought the ACR later. At least that's what the GTS guys all tell me. ;)

Get the ACR. It's not that far from the GT2 and for $10,000 it's a bargain. To match the suspension alone is over $4,000 just in parts. If you get it, add the comfort group. The ride is stiff, but feels very reassuring on back roads and off ramps.
