Don't forget a car cover unless you know where you will be staying and they have a garage. I drove mine from San Fran to New Mexico. Only problem is road construction. There is always an idiot that wants to throw gravel everywhere.

Ahh, construction gravel, my evil nemesis. I just mash and grit my teeth every time I run into gravel left behind by a construction crew. Got quite a few pits in the side sills as a reminder to pay attention to where I am driving.

A bit of advice for long or short trips. Stay as far away from the car in front of you as you can. You never know what they will kick up. Believe me, it happened to me the first week I had my new GTS. It also gives you a clear view of any obstacles in the road ahead of you.

A front mask (the bottom part of the mask) will help a lot. Just remember to empty out the grit that gathers up there when you make a stop.

Get a radar detector if you're going to test her out.
