Hi,

Can anyone help, my built 99 GTS has the stock Alpine Unit, does anyone know if it can be replaced (stock Alpine connector) as I would like the added security of a removable front or autofold up and I don't really want to start cutting wiring connectors off.

Thanks guys and gals

Paul,

I believe you need an "adapter" that most aftermarket audio shops can supply. Then you can change to a variety of units... including the really cool one with the flip up screen!

I ordered a wiring kit from a Halfords Superstore when upgrading
to the alpine face off that saved hacking into the existing wires

I have an Alpine that I put in my 95. It did require a special connector, but everyone had it (I got mine from Circuit City).

I just got an Alpine CDA 7863 with the removeable face and tilt screen. It looks cool as can be, and the shop had to get a harness from God knows where and installed it. I'm happy with it, it memorizes the preset bass/trebble settings according to what you had on.....CD, FM, AM...It cool. Good luck.
