........4/17-........4/1-.........1/1-.........1/1-
........4/22/06......4/22/06......4/22/06......4/23/05
Viper.........41..........82...........395..........486
GT............33..........114..........699..........439
Corvette....695.......2,283......12,998.....11,435

I personally think it's great. The fewer Vipers there are, the less likely I'll see another. It makes me feel special, and I don't know why. ALMOST TWICE AS MANY FORD GT's? Cool.

the above post is great but might be confusing to some people. Can you redo them starting at the begining of the year and working up month by month

Thanks. I tried to align the numbers from an Excel file, it didn't work too well.
The bottom line is:

Year to date, for every Viper built there are about 33 Corvettes, and almost 2 Ford GTs.

Thats really cool. Being on this site so much, I sometimes forget how rare Vipers really are. I start thinking everyone has a Viper since 90% of people here have one. I wonder what Corvette guys on the Corvette forum think lol

I think you should do Z06 production numbers...though I know those won't be available until end of production year. The only vette that stands with the GT and Viper is the Z06 and those numbers are gonna be closer (still a bit higher) to the Viper production. The 2006 Z06 production has been limited because they are hand building the motors in Wixom and could not build enough to keep up with body production.

That fact has pushed many prospective Z06 owners like me, to purchase Vipers...GM is hurting itself by having loyal Vette owners jump to Mopar. Dodge is the only place you can easily get a super car for a reasonable price in a reasonable time frame. I am sold on the Viper! I refused to pay 13k over sticker for a new Z06...

Great data! Thanks for posting this...where did you get the numers from?

This is exactly why I also bought a Viper. I think the new Z06 is awesome and I originally planned to buy one, but found the dealer attitude incredibly smug. Not only did they demand a huge premium, but acted as though I should kiss their feet for selling me a car at $15,000 over sticker... yeah, that's going to happen :nono: At least one dealer out and out lied and tried to tell me that GM was only going to build 2000 Z06s and then stop production... for ever, lol. "So I better bite the bullet, swallow the mark-up and buy now" Left a lasting and really negative impression. You would think GM would be trying to win customers right now, considering their economic situation. I understand the laws of supply and demand, but dealer greed and lack of ethics will have a backlash on GM's already dim reputation. In the end, I got a car that is far more eye catching and very close in performance. No regrets.

The numbers come from Automotive News magazine. It's interesting to see that the Conner ave plant can produce more Vipers in a week than Ford GTs, but with all the shutdowns, the total numbers are much lower. I think adding Firepower! production to the assembly line will have a great effect on the Viper. Believe it or not, taking time off hurts quality. Steady production is much better.

I'm sure SOME care, some probably could care less....

You didn't factor in Ferrari, they build MORE Ferrari 360's than Vipers, but personally I'd rather drive an exotic than any of the 3 posted. All the cars are great but reality is at the end of the day it's Still a Chevy, Ford, and a Dodge but bad *** one's at that. :2tu:

Goes both ways as well, 2 of the doctors I work with sold their GTS and SRT/10 for the C6 Z06 since in THEIR words "DC dropped the ball" They are selling the Z06 for MSRP down here, where as the SRT coupes are $10K OVER sticker. I guess it just depends on location.
