Bad Dodge, bad Dodge!

You build a new Viper that brakes faster, thanks to 4 piston calipers all around and one full inch larger rotors. It goes faster, due to the 8.3-liter engine with over 500 cubic inches and over 500 pounds of torque and horsepower. Create an all-new more aerodynamic body that will provide better handling and greater high-speed stability. You all but assured your faithful Viper Nation of having the greatest value in sports car history. You raised the level so high that the only competition a future Viper owner will have is if they fall on to a NASCAR track.

Lets see, you are bad because? A group of people who have only seen two-dimensional photos feel that you have missed a targeted look?

Well folks, I have to say that I for one am glad that many of you have jumped off the Viper bandwagon. It will make the possibility of me getting one all that much easier.

The facts are that this new Viper is truly spectacular, and yes I was fortunate enough to be present for the unveiling today. This machine is vastly different from the one that currently resides in my garage. It is different, yet has one thing in common. It still has no true rival. This is a man among children. Never again will the Viper be lacking in any performance category. Dodge how could you be so cruel?

In person the Viper is sleeker, lower, wider, and offers something that no other before it has, a stored fold down top. As for the looks, yes it has clues of the Copperhead, but as I remember that two was a hit. This new look is stunning in person. I wish all of you could have seen it as we did. The Viper owners that were present for the show all were extremely impressed.

Did you want Dodge to build the same car again? I for one am thrilled that my Viper is all the more unique today than it was yesterday.

I guess owning a sleeker faster Viper is a cruel pill to swallow?

Tried to use my personal relationships to get in the queue to place an order for the 2003 Viper but no luck. I love both 2003 Vipers (rag top and GTSR) and think Dodge is still the most creative and customer driven manufacture! Those who do not like it can save there money or invest it hoping for a GEN4. Glad we do not all have the same taste or the demand would push the price to the sky! GREAT JOB DODGE, I am ready to place my order today!

I too can't wait to see it this weekend with the 70 club members from Illinois, Indiana, Kentuckey, Wisconsin and Michigan that are invading Detroit on Thursday. How is it that we plan this trip 2 years in a row and we get to see 2 new Vipers. Luck I guess. After looking at the pics for an hour I too think that Dodge has hit a home run. I don't think anyone wanted a rehash of what we already own. This is the car for the 21st century.

Steve, will that car be making the show circuit (especially interested in Kansas City)? If so, I plan on being there first in line, stay all day, possibly stow away over night, and sleep next to it like the commercial. How can we find out which shows it will be attending?

Steve, I agree with you completely! I expect to order the Gen3 ASAP, but I will probably not trade in my 97GTS (It is absolutely stock, perfect condition, and seems to have more HP than other Gen2 Vipers I have driven - have no idea why)

From the pictures it appears that DC has created a nice looking car. However it does resemble other cars. The Viper has always looked different from anything else on the road. To me that is part of the Viper's appeal. When I first saw pictures of the GTSR concept, I hated it. When I finally saw it in person it looked better, but I still disliked the rear end. I imagine that when I see the new RT this weekend that I will like it even more. But I still wouldn't give up my 97.

My $.02

The first time I laid eyes on a Viper was a two-dimensional picture and I was awe struck. I lusted after this car like I never lusted after any other car, FROM A PICTURE! This Gen III does nothing for me.
