A little over a week ago I changed my thermostat & coolant crossover gaskets. I burped the system after & the reserve antifreze tank in the front was full. I've put about 800 miles on it since last weekend & now notice the tank is empty. The car does not overheat. Anyone have any suggestions of what it could be?? Do these tanks frequently leak? I did notice a very small amount sitting on the bottom part of the inside facia. It didn't look like enough to be the enitre tank though.

Thanks-
Tim

Recall reading something about a front facia screw that can puncture the bottle causing its contents to be lost.

Thanks Joe - i think i read something about that too. I'm gonna take the facia off and see if the bottle has been punctured. Its the only option left i can think of

I'd bet that it wasn't "competely" burped and that the coolant from the overflow tank was absorbed into the system.

I'd watch the level, before I'd get into pulling the fascia.

On my 95 a front fascia screw on the right side was rubbing on the tank & finally wore a hole in it. I took the tank off and repaired it by cutting a small non sealing piece off the corner of the tank and used a soldering iron to "plastic weld" the hole shut. I then cut down the too long fascia screw & put it all back together. Problem solved for free! That doesn't happen to Viper owners very often.

1. Punctured tank or
2. Cap but don't get replacement for 95(drop center), get replacement for 2001 (spring center) or
3. Wasn't burped right or
4. Need hose clamps on line from surrogate tank to facia tank.

I had the same problem & symptoms recently on my '95. There was a plastic screw from fascia rubbing on radiator hose until a small hole wore itslef in. Replaced the hose, broke off the screw tip and it was fixed. While I was at it had all hoses replaced with Roe silicone hoses.
