Any difference \'03-\'04 SRT-10 - looking to buy \'03-\'04 RED SRT-10?

I would like to know if there is any differences between the 2003 or 2004 SRT-10's. I was looking to purchase a low mileage 2003-2004 RED SRT-10 but did not know if the only real difference is the price and year. Any input would greatly be appreciated.

None worth mentioning...carpeted trunk...Was the big improvement as far as I know

the calipers are red on the 04's 03's are not(red looks great)
04's carpeted trunk 03's nothing(extra)
04's has boot for top 03's do not(extra)

The 04 stickered for about 5k more than the 03.

Don't think so. Only some versions (Mamba and VCA edition) have been more.

2003's MSRP was 83,795.

From what I've heard, the 03's have some stronger internals. Larger main caps or something like that?

the 04 came with a factory paxton but most dealers took them off before selling

Chris you are right.
I looked at the 04 window sticker and saw $84795 and then at the 03 window sticker and saw $79995 but didnt add the 3k gas guzzler and 800 destinataion charge.
Not to highjack this thread but, on a seperate note, if you were contemplating a Viper purchase today and planned on future mods like a Paxton, would it be better to skip the 03 and 04 model years and buy the 05 with the knock sensors?
BIGCARROT, did that enter into your decision when you bought your SRT?

Knock sensors are definitely a plus, but it wasn't worth the price difference to me. If I decide to go much further with my mods, I'll add them anyway. A couple of tuners told me that the 03's had some stronger internal parts. I really liked that.

Not sure the knock sensors would help for the supercharger. My understanding is the knock sensors are not effective above 4000 rpm, where the Paxton boost starts coming on strong. That is not a generalism for knock sensors - viper specific.

Other '04 and '05 changes may not be for the better for a supercharger such as small bolt crank damper, PM connecting rods, etc.

First off, the 04 cars DO NOT have different rods than the 03's. However, 05's DO have different rods than 03-04. ALL SRT-10 Connecting rods are Cracked Cap rods, they were forged in 03/04 and PM in 05. The addition of Knock sensors in 05, as well as the change to PM rods was a cost cutting measure, as the PM rods are pulled from another engine (take a wild guess...) The only engine difference from 03 to 04 is the Crank Damper Bolt size, which doesnt mean anything if you loctite it (normal use) or key/pin the crank as you should for an SC application.

Other differences:

-Black Calipers (Red in 04)
-no trunk kits (Std. in 04)
-no top covers (Std. in 04)
-Have to get into fuse box under hood to exit "Battery Saver Mode" (Driver Door Handle can exit Saver mode in 04)
-Different pressure and temp ranges on Oil Pressure and Temp gauges (Higher pressure range and temp range in '04)
-No Mamba Editions

It was my understanding that they are cracked steel, not cracked pm. Quote from product review

That was the 03/04 rod. And Dan you were correct the 03 was cracked forged steel. The '05 as was indicated is PM.
