Another car company tried to make a 500 hp car with lighter weight, and the top kept blowing off and the cooling system was insufficient.

You can reduce the Viper's weight considerably with lighter wheels, tires and eliminate the exhaust crossover.

You obviously don't know what you're talking about. The Viper doesn't even weigh 3400 lbs.. Go back to the Vette forum...troll!

That might get you 120 lbs max reduction (20 lbs. per wheels + 20 lbs for the tires + 20 lbs. for the crossover pipe). That brings the weight down to low 3300 range which is still too heavy if you ask me. Need another 100 - 150 lb. reduction.

If you do the above with no mods you gain .25 - .35 sec. in the 1/4. Now add a little more mustard and then we're talkin'.

so 3380/505= 6.69lb/hp
so 3380/650= 5.20lb/hp
so 3280/650= 5.05lb/hp best case

haha.... Im just assuming that the car will get heavier, not that I want it to. I honestly just want to see what Dodge comes up with and I hope its good. Nuff said

I don't think they are gonna show the 2008 in Las Vegas. I think we'll see the 'modified' SRT-10 and we'll see the new Dodge Charger "drifting" car, and we'll see some kind of 'concept' information on the 2008 ... but I would bet they'll save the actual 2008 introduction for the NAIAS in Detroit to get bigger coverage.

Since the changes to the '08 model are largely in the drivetrain I expect to see the car at VOI.9. The source of the info from AllPar listed above has revealed that a test run of the '08's with the new drivetrain has already been built. There is no reason to not bring a copy of the '08 to VOI.9.

The all-new Viper, based on the upcoming ZC platform, is coming in October '09 and, if anything, I would expect that car to be shown at NAIAS either this coming year or the next.
