Hello:

I just wanted to find out if anyone was able to install a device to open their trunk on their RT/10 so that you did not have to use the key and do it yourself. Is their such a device? I am talking about the type of device you see in BMW's, Mercedes', Toyota's, Honda's etc. You know the "normal" LOL!

Any help would be greatly appricated.

Thanks in advance :D

I wired a switch on one guy's car because he would lock his keys in the trunk. The possibilities are endless. You could goes as far as to make the trunk completely open and close with the touch of a remote. It comes down to how much convenience you want and how much you want to spend.dj

Here you go.....LARGE pix!

Not sure how this will work out...but here goes! Joe Dozzo sent me these images, and I plan to add this to the Illustrated Instructions soon....I just can't keep up now that I actually have to work. :) I will slowly get everything updated though! By the way...this was done on a GTS...I am not sure how the latch assembly is different so YMMV. Anyway....here goes:

You could take the tumblers out of the lock and then anything you put into the keyhole would unlock the trunk. Looks OEM, nobody would know unless they try it.

today while at the beach, i was worried about locking the keys in the trunk
because if you do.. your up the creek.......
the button in the glovebox idea sounds good.

It would be a great idea but I wonder if it will ever happen. Anyone know if they have the SRT-10's built that way? Do they have a switch inside that opens the trunk? You would think they would have put something like this on the RT-10 but I guess it is a driving machine and nothing else. LOL!

I HATED ALWAYS HAVING TO GET OUT AND USE THE KEY ON MY 01 RT TRUNK..

I FABRICATED A VERY SMALL CHROME HANDLE WITH A THREADED SHAFT THAT GOES THROUGH THE TOP LEFT LICENSE PLATE HOLE..

INSIDE THE 2001 RTs HAVE A SMALL EMERGENCY RELEASE CABLE (DOT REQUIREMENT) THAT I USED TO PULL THE LATCH OPEN..

THE HANDLE IS ALMOST INVISABLE EVEN TO OTHER VIPER OWNERS..

YOU JUST SQUEEZE WITH ONE HAND AND LIFT.. THE TRUNK IS OPEN IN LESS THAN A SECOND!!..

IF YOU ARE INTERESTED I COULD DRAW A DIAGRAM..
