Avoid synthetic stucco like the plague unless you want your house to rot away from the inside out...

I've got a "scratch coat" on mine! heh heh!

(double meaning)
("scratch coat" = stucco terminology)

That is because humidity and termites here rot wood in no time. Cinderblock and stucco is also more energy efficient in this environment. But I agree - I do miss the homes of New England.

Block is fine, but stucco? I'm sure the reason for stucco's popularity has to do with economics much more so than energy efficiency or rotting wood.
