Anyone know an ignition switched source in fuse box?

I been meaning to hook up my radar detector since I got my car but never got around to it. I almost got a ticket the other day so would like to finally hook it up. Of course I need it hardwired though. I am not familiar at all with taping into the cig lighter like I saw in other threads. In my past cars I just hooked it up to the fuse box with an inline fuse holder. I know the fuse box is under the hood, but I can find a way to get the wire hidden easy. I did not have time to even test anything or look in my fuse box yet, so I am curious if anyone has any experience with hooking it up to the fuse box or know if an ignition switched slot (if empty) in the fuse box that i can use for my radar detector.

Thanks in advance!

Just take a test light or voltmeter and measure any open slot in the fuse box or under hood box For voltage when key is turned on and no voltage key off. Don't worry at all about the amperage.A radar detector would be so low could go on a 2amp fuse. You can hook to any key on power and no problem. Whoops don't recommend an ignition primary.

I'll have to test it, was actually hoping someone already tried it and knew of one already to save my self a whole minute. :D

You said fuse box or under hood box? I was under the impression on the SRT the only fuse box was under the hood? is there another? I know other cars usually have multiple fuse boxes.

I ran my wire for my Valentine along the top of windshield and then down the a pillar. Went behind dash and then to center console. Pop off the center console piece around shifter and connected to the cigarette lighter. It works perfectly and I didnt want to tie into anything else for fear of some type of problem later.
I didnt have to remove and panels to run wires. It tucks into the crevices, and then zip tie under dash. Very easy to do. I did use some black adhesivedum dum type stuff to hold the wire tight from where it runs from the detector to the windshield.

My only thing is i am not to fimilar with how to tap into the cig lighter. The fuse box seems easier to me. But i just want to make sure, there is only one fuse box on this car right?

I run a valentine one and after much testin the Cigar lighter was the easiest option, with a piggy back connector, but dont put the connector too close or it will slow down or stop the lighter from lifting.

Very easy took me fifteen minutes to do.

To the best of my limited knowledge the only fuse box is under the hood.

The Valentine hardwire kit came with a connector. It crimps onto the Green wire for Cig lighter(Hot) and then I ran the ground wire to one of the bolts were your left leg goes while driving, there are two ground bolts there. Its very easy once you start looking at it.
