yes they are, the Gen II's have a vent, that's basically the only difference.

I'm swapping diffs in my car right now and will be selling the stock one soon. shoot me a PM if you are interested.

More info, please?

The 92-96 parts listing shows a rear diff cover with a vent.
The 92-93, 94-95, and 96 diff assemblies have different part numbers.

I've seen many incorrect or misleading parts numbers and pictures in the parts listing, so I'd like to keep up with whatever is really correct. Thanks.

I have both in my garage. They are the same, but the Gen I's don't have the vent. That's the only difference I can see.

I'll snap pictures this weekend.

I've heard that they ARE infact different. I know they are Dana 44s but the earlier ones I thought could use Corvette Gears, and the later ones cant. So maybe one is a Dana 44 and the later ones are DEFINITELY what are called Dana Super 44.

I'd take a gen 2 diff over a gen 1. my 2 cents.

The guy that bought TOOOFST sheared the bolt heads off
the ring gear and the posi got trashed. Albert at
Brakes plus in Des plaines who's been very helpfull
to all viper doods and did TOOFS heads/Cam fix it all
for $650. New posi and rebuild.

well in the mitchell book it says:
rear differential
92-00 part number 4763897ab
01-02 part number 4763897ac

but I also thought the gen 2 cars are called dana super 44 and gen 1 cars dana 44
