I bought these after market ball joints from Autozone (life time warranty) cost on them was about $85.00 for both of them.
I have air tools but what I found what you really need is just a drill with a large bit. I used an air hammer that helped out a little and a air cutter.
My Dodge Durango is a 2000 SLT 4x4 and I love it besides the bad gas mileage.
I don't know if my ball joints were bad, but I didn't want to take the chance on them and also didn't want to pay the dealership a ton of cash either.
Total time it took me to do the job was about 2.5 hours for both sides. Not bad for my first time.

There's not much to the kit. I like this kit because it has bolts instead of the factory rivets used.
as you can see, here are the factory ball joints. Noticed they are riveted. Pain in the ass to get them off!
Below you can see where I used a air cut off tool to make a star in the rivet to help drill out the rivets with the drill bit.
Below you will see the rivets where drilled out and I used an air hammer to finish the job!
I gave the spindle a good whack with the hammer and whalla! the ball joint popped out!
I installed the new ball joint and put it all back together!
Now it's finished and looks just as new or even better! It didn't take me too long to do it and saved myself some serious cash! (or at leaset it's serious cash for me). Not bad if I do say so myself! This is another project by ab and it did not give me a sun burn either!!! ha!!!
Okay, my next project is putting on Delrin bushings on my Viper. I will post pictures and instructions. Gary A was played Santa with me and gave me a set of new delrin bushings from sean roe for free! He is sooo cool for doing that. So I will post instructions and pics when I finish! I need to go wash my hands and warm up! It was a bit chilly in my garage tonight.
