Anybody have any experience with these going bad? Mine still feels like it has a lot of spring but my belt came off during my last session at Sebring. Probably just a stretched belt but I wanted to hear some opinions.

Chuck,

I think if the tensioner loses the tension. The belt can float at high rpms which may cause it to jump off the pulley. I know in some S/C applications this can also happen. Same scenrio.

P/S pulleys crack around the hub, tensioners also crack, and the bearings go bad, it's because your car sits in the garage  :D

Also the p/s brackets fail

Chuck, The belt tensioner may feel Okay but it can't reflex fast enough for the AC kicking on and fast power/RPM changes. If its an original 98 and belts wouldn't stay on I'd be changing it even if a low mile car. It's just a coil spring under 9 yrs of tension. :)
