What is the best cat-back exhaust system to use in conjunction with the following Viper modifications: (1) K & N cold air intake and (2) Bellanger headers.

My criteria for what would be "best" in order of priority from greatest to least are : (1) street legal (no check engine lights or OBD code issues), (2) hp and torque increase, (3) weight reduction, (4) sound (yes, I know very subjective -- I do not mind a fairly loud exhaust) and (5) heat reduction.

The above mods would be for a 2008 Viper convertible but I am interested in feedback regarding 2003-2006 models.

I have heard many good things about the Corsa track system and the Bellanger exhaust. I was considering the Mopar cat-back exhaust but have been informed that the system is for "off-road use only", causes check engine light and ODB code issues and is overly loud. I have also been informed that the Mopar "touring" exhaust, while street legal, provides minimal hp gains.

Thanks for any feedback you can provide.

Belanger makes a good set up to go behind their headers. It has a cat, a Magnaflow muffler, spot for an 02 sensor, extension pipe and tail pipe with chrome tip. No check engine lights, good hp / tq. Not sure if it's street legal in your area, but it hasn't caused any codes.

It was way too loud for me the way it came but some people might like it. I don't like loud. I installed the crossovers behind it and it got quite a bit quieter. I think the volume will be OK now but will need a few weeks of driving it to be sure.

The Corsa Track system works very well behind the stock exhaust manifolds and twin cats. It will be obnoxiously loud behind headers. As a cat back system, the Corsa should be legal in most areas.

Fellas -- thanks for the informative replies; barring the development by Mopar of a true street-legal exhaust that provides significant weight and hp/tq gains it looks like Corsa and Bellanger would be the top two contenders. Would anyone living in the SW Washington area or Oregon happen to have either of these systems installed and be willing to let me hear their cars firsthand? Or even a soundclip? Thanks.

Before any of you go running off and buying performance parts including exhausts for a 2008 VIPER, Please remember that the old OBD11 engine controls are gone as of 2008. I do not believe anyone knows for sure at this point how the new engine control systems that all manufactures must use on 2008 cars will react with aftermarket performance parts. Will these performance parts pop a trouble code and light? Who knows? As for being street legal, that depends on your state and federal laws. Here in CT when I ran my house viper with side pipes , RT cats, and AtRo Exhaust the car was to loud for the local sound police. I reinstalled the crossover pipe and that took the bark out of the exhaust and I have seen zero increase in side sill temps. Even tough the exhaust is louder than the state mandated 75 dB the sound police have not talked any notice. A side benefit is that the crossover pipes have made more power than the side pipe system and the sound is much better.
