BFG D/R\'s 60\'

Just got done with the last track event here in Idaho. I ran my best 1/4 mile,a 10.71 @129.77 with a 1.474 60' on BFG D/R's. Had six passes, the worst 60' was 1.524 and the rest were all in the 1.4's the best being a 1.465. Track prep was the best I have ever seen and would like to hear how many of you have been in the 1.4's also on BFG's.

Congrats!

What tire pressure were you running, and what was your launch RPM? Those are some impressive #'s for DR's...

I run 16.5 psi in the rears and 37.5 in the front, launch at 4000-4200 rpm's.

Re: BFG D/R\'s 60\'

I went a 1.49 sixty on BFGs in Bowling Green at the v10 nats earlier this year. I normally run 1.52 to 1.55 on the BFGs, but the bottles were smoking and I left a little harder than normal on that pass. That was the pass the twisted both half shafts, broke the diff cross member, the diff housing, the end off the driveshaft, and the tailshaft of the trans...what a day !!! Mid 1.40s is killer on drag radials anyway you look at it. I will say that we were at the track and a friend put a set of the new MT drag radials on his car and on the first pass out it went 9.79 with a 1.39 sixty...that is killer for a dot street tire...look out Florida / drag radial shoot out. I bet there will be a few people with Mickeys instead of BFGs at the race.
Later,
Joe

Did you slip the clutch or did you just drop the clutch at 4200 and floored it?

Damn! And I thought these kind of 60' weren't possible except with slicks. I guess I was full of s*it after all.

4th gear @ 6100 rpm's.
If your making over 635 rwhp stay with the 3:07's. you'll need taller tires or a 4 to 5 shift with the 3:55's.

Re: BFG D/R\'s 60\'

I'm making 545rwhp with 3.55's. It makes me nervous at the end of the track that I'm going to hit my rev limiter. I ran it to about 6,100 or 6,200 once and hit the limiter in 2nd hard. I just need to learn my car a little better. How much hp are you laying down with those numbers?
