I just had to charge my battery and now the check engine light stays on. Is there a reset? I am about to go on a road trip and dont want to have to take it in. Is this normal?

it probably threw it due to the low battery- get the batt hot and go by a parts store and have them erase it.

It says in the owners manual that it can illuminate if you had a dead battery, which I did. But it does not say now to make it go off.

just drive it....it will cycle through and go off by itself.....my light went on when I lost my gas cap and stayed on for a few drives before clearing.....no need to go to the dealer or worry.....
