Good morning all

Viper running great. Going on long road trip in 3 weeks (S.E. Louisiana to College Station...to Austin...to San Antonio and back of course). Don't have an owner's manual. Just passed 20,000 miles. Is the car due for a major service check up? Put 3000 on it since purchase 6 months ago (so presumably dealership fully serviced it prior to delivery at 17,000 miles). Or should I just leave it alone since running well. Last oil change was about 2000 miles ago. Was planning on having oil changed again upon return.

Thanks for advice

I would start with...
1.tire pressures and conditions
2.fluids
3.I would change the oil before hand...but that is just me
4.have fun

What would you do if you were taking your family station wagon on the same trip?

Don't bother with the oil change. You are good since it's mostly highway miles.

Aggreed...now that I know how many miles you drive on average and how you drive the car. An oil change will not be necessary.

With short trips the engine doesn't get hot enough and the oil gets diluted with moisture/residue and can't do its job.

Anyway with the way these cars vibrate and all the rough roads, I would check the whole underneath for loose nuts and bolts.
