Just a few questions regarding comp coups!

Where is the comp coupe made? (I did not see any being built at CAAP)
Can anyone buy them?
What is the cost?
Are there different levels of comp coupes?
How close are they to race use when delivered?
How much of a differance is noticeable between an ACR and comp coupe on the track?

Thanks!

I think I can answer most of your questions. The CC is a factory built race car, built in its own facility. Anyone can buy one, but they want to know you have some racing experience. There are two basic setups, VRL and WC (more wing, lower). They are track ready, but most folks make some upgrades to the systems, mainly add-ons. You can't touch the motor, it is sealed. As for the ACR (08-9) v CC on the track, the times are very close and it depends on the driver. Obviously, to get close times in a lesser powered car, the CC has better handling, mainly cornering. You cannot race an ACR in any sanctioned event, but you can use it for track days. If you are thinking about an ACR v CC, and have no racing experience, go with the ACR and get some seat time in a Viper. Better yet, just use your ACR (get it track ready) and use it for your first year or two of track days, get to know the tracks and the cars. Just my 2c.

Order an '09 ACR and while you wait for it take the ACR you already have to the tracks to get seat time and experience. Then when your new ACR comes in, modify it (ask Mark at Woodhouse what to do), then take it to the track. You will think you have died and gone to heaven. The new ones are that much better. And you can run an ACR in SCCA and NASA classes later if you decide that's what you want to do. But depending on the class you will have to have a cage built, a fire extinguisher installed, and a window net put on. Then race seats are good, etc., etc. You may find that the DE track events are thrilling enough for you and if not, you can start Time Trials with NASA or do the NARRA events to get a feel for "racing" before you start to modify your new ACR. I personally prefer the ACR to the Comp Coupe because I can drive it on the street. I think everything lasts longer on the car if half of my driving is on the street and not hammering the car to the max every time I drive it like you do in a comp coupe.

The CC is still way faster around a road course...it weighs 600 pounds less for starters... Personally, I like having both. :)

I will chime in also...A GT3 Comp Coupe, and a CC with an Endurance Package can also be purchased. "You can't touch the engine it is sealed" Well that depends upon what series you want to race in. VRL it would have to remain sealed. SCCA (GT1) it would have to remain sealed (according to the rules). If you wanted to race in another class in SCCA, NASA your more than welcome to go into the Engine. You can race the ACR in VRL, SCCA, NASA you must simply comply with their rules. My opinion..if your looking at true racing purchase a Comp Coupe (used) cheaper, and all the safety systems are already in place.

Where is the comp coupe made? (I did not see any being built at CAAP)>> Built in a warehouse in Lavonia, MI > by........Rousch....Evernham/Gillette is simply the Middle Man, the the point of contact (Viper Race HQ)

Can anyone buy them?>>>Yes

What is the cost?>>a cool 161K in Standard VRL (Viper Racing League or now NARRA Trim) No Options..No Spares...You Paint.

Are there different levels of comp coupes?>>>4- VRL/NARRA
World Challange, FIA GT3, Endurance.

How close are they to race use when delivered?>>I'd suggest fulling going over the car, align to your specs, and Go.

How much of a differance is noticeable between an ACR and comp coupe on the track?>>>Only owners/drivers of both will be able to answer your question.

Are there any plans to put the new viper drive train in a comp coupe?

DO they still produce them? With the gen 3 motor and drive train setup?

lets just put it this way, an ACR is closer to a regular SRT10 then an ACR is to a CC. An ACR is still a street car while the CC is an all out race car in every way. I'd love to own a CC one day.
