Just went to pick up a Diehard Platinum (It's a group 78, 880CCA, Feb '08 manufacture date) and noticed both the top post & side mount. I've read in here somewhere that top post batteries are "iffy" for fit in the GTS's.

It measures 8" from the bottom of the battery to the top of the top post.

My car is in storage 20 miles away so I just want to show up with all the right stuff.

If it doesn't I'll go for the AC Delco 800CCA side mount battery.

Anyone know if the Platinum will fit?

I CANNOT tell you one way or the other...but EACH battery tray is a little different...at least in 1996 Gen I's and 1996-99 II's... in MY experience.

Also, though I personally am using Sears Die-hard Gold batteries in 5 of our 6 Vipers...they are 75 series by MY choice...as 78 series "fit" seems to be a matter of luck in our Gen I's and II's...EVEN THOUGH THEY WERE SIDE TERMINAL ONLY!!!

You can "try it" and see...and hope that you have good luck.

P.S. Doesn't that new Platinum battery weigh 10 lbs. more???
