I truly wonder though...if they were to take the financial 'reward' of the ticket revenue going to the cops, and did something other with it (education?)..how many cops would waste time with speed traps....and start to work harder on real crime?
I know here in Ct, all infraction ticket derived revenue goes into the General Fund and none goes back to the original Police Departments. They get no cut.
That being said, the State and the Feds do offer grants (from our tax money,of course) to the individual police departments and state police for enforcement purposes;thus the more enforcement a department does, the more grant money they receive for equipment, cruisers, etc., and that's very attractive to the locals. The same rings true for drug enforcement grants.
