Does a Front \"Chin Guard \" really help ??

I'm considering buying a Chin Guard for my RT and was wondering if it really does help prevent scratches and scuffs to the front Fascia ?

Do they come in Yellow ??

My humble opinion is:

Yes and no.

Wishy-washy enough for you??? LOL Seriously...the chin guard will help immediately under the center of the fascia, but it will do NOTHING for the outer corners. Hang on and I'll take a pic. Ok, you might be able to see that the chin guard would work well for the middle...but I don't think it would do anything for image #2. Even the fascia on the Red bomb in the garage has a LITTLE of what you see here...and I am pretty darn careful. Please note that I do NOT have a chin guard, I would probably consider getting one, I just haven't got off my butt.....so I am not speaking from experience. I am just offering up my observations. I am sure others will chime in.

Luckily, I've only had one close encounter of the curb kind and my chin guard did its job.

It's ideal for protecting the chin when parking in a slot with a divider or curb in front of you. If you angle into someplace, it probably won't help ya much, no.

I got the one from SnakeOyl and it has saved my bacon a couple of times. Like everyone, I try to be careful but sometimes things slip up on you. Like the time I went over a dip in local street that was a drainage swale -- even though I was going slow I heard the fascia drag -- got out of the car and was relieved to see that the guard had taken all the damage. Installed properly the SnakeOyl guard is nearly invisible and I'm glad I've got mine!

Fas-Rack factory painted blue/white on mine and has saved my butt many-a-time.

Crank on an approach and the metal tines take the brunt of the force and shoot it over the entire fascia evenly in my book. Much better than dragging and potentially tearing whatever spot happens to make contact first.

well worth the peanut cost, under a hundred bucks I think?

I think using a combo of that and the Roe Racing stick on rubber "bumpers" would be the best. The bumbers will protect the outside edges.

I looked at the metal "Prong" type one and figured it just wasn't worth the work. Seemed to me that it would scrape into the paint.

Here's what I did. I got some of that clear door edge molding that has the sticky stuff in the channel. I then pushed it onto the lower valence where it sticks straight down. It goes from where the factory applied clear tape stuff is on either side and all the way across the middle. It's really hard to see once installed and it has gotten scraped up..but the paint is fine underneath. Plus...it's so cheap that I just replace it if it gets ugly.
