According to the Dodge website, yes (scroll down to "Warranty" and click it):

http://www-5.dodge.com/vehsuite/VehicleCompare.jsp?vehicle=VIPER

However, when I pulled the Dodge data sheet on my VCA SRT-10, it showed:

POWERTRAIN: 36 Month or 36,000 Miles - expires August 31, 2007

I can only assume that it is incorrect and that it should be 7/70. I also bought the "wrap-around" extended warranty with a zero deductible. That pretty much gives me bumper-to-bumper coverage through most of 2011.

Of course in your case if you are adding a supercharger you can say "bye-bye" to the powertrain warranty anyway...

Oh yeah, and you can also "build your Viper" at the site, including in YELLOW. Sigh...

I also heard the warranty for the new Dodge Ram SRTs and
Vipers had dropped back to 36m/36k miles, but I don't
know for sure.

I hope you have better luck with your warranty than
I have with mine (see Clutch problem/VIN check). I'm
beginning to think "Dodge" stands for "dodge your
customers when they need warranty work performed".

BTW: If my posts seem pretty negative toward DCX, it's
only because, in my case I think they earned it.

IMO the Viper is still a great-looking, high performance
car, that is a pleasure to drive, but apparently suffers
from the "Made in Detroit and backed by Dodge" syndrome.

Well, you all know that I just bought an 03 viper. My carfax says it only has 36k 3 yrs warranty.

My 2003 Warranty Information booklet in the owners packet indicates:

3/36 Basic Limited Warranty Coverage
Powertrain Limited Warranty ($100 deductible) 7/70
Anti-Corrosion Perforation 3 Yr Unlimited
And various emission related warranties.

Not sure if this has changed in subsequent years but for 2003 it has the 7/70 powertrain warranty.

When I bought my VCA edition from Bill Pemberton @ Woodhouse, I was told that for 2005 models, the 7/70 is gone and it's a 3/36, so I bought the zero deductible 7/70 extended plan that DC offers... another memory is that the 3/36 plan only cover 400 different parts while the extended plan covers over 2000 parts...

you should ask a dealer and make sure...

Okay, I wish to revise my answer and say that based on J's comment, the Dodge data sheet I pulled, and my actual warranty book (if all else fails, read the manual) that NO 2005 SRT vehicle (SRT-10, SRT-4, SRT-6, or upcoming SRT-8) has the 7/70 powertrain warranty. It is the basic 3/36 and that is it. I don't think anybody knew that when we ordered the car. Another good reason to buy the extended warranty - which we did!

Oh yeah, and here is a screenshot of the Dodge website for the 2005 SRT-10 two minutes ago:

How much is the extended warranty? Where can I get the best price?

Its hard to believe any manufacturer would reduce warranty coverage.

Believe it. As to buying an extended warranty, Bill Pemberton and the crew at Woodhouse treat folks VERY well on them. They can be reached at 800-889-1893.

Re: Does my \'05 VCA Viper come with the 7/70 warranty?

Hi all,
My 2004 SRT-10 comes with powertrain limited warranty 7/70. Even my 2002 GTS/ACR which I bought new last July 2004 also comes with powertrain limited warranty 7/70. It comes standard and I did not pay any extra money for this 7/70. I did not know that 2005 SRT-10 only comes with 3/36.

Re: Does my \'05 VCA Viper come with the 7/70 warranty?

Well if it is true (and I don't know for sure), why would Dodge do that?

Possible reasons:

a) They don't have any confidence in the build/reliability quality of the Viper.

b) Just a way to get more people to buy the "extended warranty".

or

c) a and b.

In a PM to me Viper SRT (besides attempting to roast me for my anti-DCX posts) indicated he/she had knowledge of some of the inner-workings of Dodge, perhaps he/she would be kind enough to let the rest of the VCA posters know what the deal is in regards to the '05 warranty?

At any rate, if Dodge has reduced the warranty on the '05s, I would think the smart thing to do is to cancel my '05 order and pick up one of the unsold '03s or '04s. They are being offered at discount prices. That way you get basically the same car with a better warranty for less price!

(Although from my experience the Dodge warranty isn't worth anything anyways.)

BTW Most consumer research groups advise not to buy an extended warranty on any vehicle and for a vehicle that comes with 7/70 mile power train warranty, what additional items are covered for the cost of the extended warranty?
