Finally I got the car of my dreams.. a 1998 Viper GTS. It's Viper red and is such a beauty!
My friend, who just bought a red Corvette Z06 from 2001, followed me on my quest to drive my car from NC to Saskatchewan in Canada. The ride was such a thrill! I was a bit afraid of the car in the beginning, but after 2,000 miles of driving I got the hang of it.
I know what you guys may be thinking.. and yes. I raced my friend a couple of times on the way and boy, did he get his ass kicked  Of course he was a great opponent, but the Viper has the power and will to win. It was just such a cool drive. The biggest problem was to awoid driving too fast, but when it happened the Valentine was a good support. I think it saved our asses 4-5 times! I just love that machine!!

I don't know how to post pictures on this forum, so I cannot show any.. sorry!

Oh yeah.. One really bad thing happened on the roadtrip! Some person scratched the passenger side of the car with a key. Can you believe that?!? I left it on a well-lit parking lot, where I could keep a good eye on it.. but it happened anyway. Man, that just ticks me off!!! Why would anyone do such a thing to such a nice car? I just can't believe it. But besides that, everything went fine and I now own my own Viper.. Now I finally know what you guys in here are talking about.

Unfortunately everybody who is interested in sports cars in Moose Jaw (the city I live in) just love the Corvette. There is even a Corvette club where they meet all the time and show off their cars. They have a big exhibition next saturday where my friend is invited.. maybe I should bring my Viper and see which car gets the most attention :) On our road trip up here I got all the attention and my friend just faded among all the other cars on the road.. gotta love that Viper! It's a car like no other. And the acceleration.. Yeehaa!

Just wanted to share my first experiences with my new car to all of you in here. I know how much you like this car.. I will propably make a lot of posts to learn a lot more about it.

Have fun out there!

Take your Viper to the Vette meeting. With your friend as a buffer they should treat you fine. Most Vette guys will be really interested in the car (a few will be idiots). Your friend can verify your performance and you can remain cool and avoid any smack talking confrontations. You'll have a good time and those guys will be green with envy!

Erik,

Congrats on the purchase! However, in fact you DO NOT have the hang of that car. There is so much Torque that even veterans of the car who truly track it at roadcourses are Still surprised! Sorry to hear about the keying, that really s**ks! Better to be hated than the hater someone said somewhere!

Enjoy!

COngrads and enjoy, do be careful, no electronics + mucho torque = many spins.

Glad to hear you are still smiling even after that POS keyed the beauty.

That makes me so very mad when I hear that ! Good Luck :2tu:

Falconeer, welcome to the club! I'm sorry to hear that somebody keyed your car. As you have already found out, there are a lot of jealous people out there who are envious because they don't own a car like the viper. I'm glad you enjoyed the viper experience on the highway going home. Again....welcome to a great car club!

Erik,
I'm glad your trip went well. BTW when backing out of driveways, go slow or you wont have a front fascia left. The thing scrapes very easily. I know you will enjoy your new car. Good luck with your training! :2tu:

Erik,
Welcome to the VCA. It's great to see the enthusiasm you have for your new Viper. I can relate to that as I am also a new owner and love the car as well. One of the first to ride in my new Viper was a Corvette owner friend. I took him for a spin and after the car warmed up I opened it up for him. After pulling himself upright in the seat I could tell he was impressed. Afterward he admitted he had never been in car with such acceleration. It actually scared him he said.
Best of luck with your new car and try not to drive it in the snow too much!

I know what you mean.. Boy it's difficult to see where that front ends, but I haven't scraped it since I left NC.

Take care..
