I've noticed that the alarm remote seems to work great, range wise, in the garage. In a parking lot, especially at night, the range is substantially less, inches in fact. Back in the garage, 20 feet plus. Not just on the Viper, but any Chrysler product.

Any ideas as to the cause of decrease in range? Interference from mercury vapor lights perhaps?

Yes, battery is new and another new one had no positive impact. It seems as if in certain areas that there is interference with the remote's RF transmission that severely limits it's range.

Last night in a parking lot I had to place the remote on the windshield to get the alarm to turn off. (A little nerve wracking when you have a '96 because of the lack of a keyed alarm reset switch) Drove home, put it into the garage and cycled the alarm from my basement 30 feet away with the same remote and battery.
