electrical, computer, airbag question?

I have a friend who installed a Sparco steering wheel on his 01 GTS so the driver's airbag has been removed. He would like to get the "Airbag" light to go off by "teaching" the system to only concentrate on the passenger airbag..if this is possible. He wants to have the passenger airbag work normal for street driving and be able to be keyed off for the track. Since the drivers bag is gone will the passenger bag work?

Any help would be appreciated.
