Approx how long do these viper engine and trannys last under normal driving conditions? With some hard miles, ie: drag or road racing. I got a LS1 and I know with the aluminum heads and block they can start to give at around 70k miles. So I'm wondering how long one of these beasts will last?

The answers are varied - you'll find some people had great runs and a few got bad runs - like any American car.

There's several done over 100,000 miles - I'm pretty sure Joe117's has done the magic ton as one example.

I've heard of a guy that fitted magnesium con rods as an experiment - that's not relevant to stock - but that car went over 100,000 miles with those rods in and was not nursed!

Given a good basic engine the V10 should do 100,000 miles if looked after no problems at all - but it all depends upon how much track time etc.... be interesting to hear some experiences on this thread.

there's no reason a car built these days can't go 100k+. Look at some of these 4 bangers that are overworked and run forever. Technology has come a long way baby!!!!!! :2tu:

If everything is well maintained like oil changes, coolant and other fluids I can't see why our Vipers couldn't go over 100K miles? Not too many people have a Viper as their everyday driver so I don't think the miles will go that high on too many cars that aren't being driven.
