First time since buying the car the engine symbol light came on. I don't have a code reader but I suspect it has something to do with it being 100 degrees here at the moment and the engine temp went to half way between the highest of the three marks and the next higher mark for the first time.

Oil, Charging, coolant levels all normal. Running smoothly ... should I spend money at the Chrysler Dealership? :omg:

How long before the Engine Light goes off after everything cools down (and if that was the problem)?

I doubt your CEL was due to coolant temp. Here in :tx: mine runs at that mark all the time and no CEL's because of that. Go to an auto parts that reads them for free if you have them in Canada. Auto Zone will here.

go to an autozone/advanceauto/pepboys and have them check your code for free
or stop by any autoshop (besides a dealership), they all have atleast the basic codereader nowadays

then report back

Chrysler ran the code and said it was O2 Sensor Heater One and O2 Sensor Heater Two. These heaters "warm the sensors to make cold start running optimal. The fact that they are both throwing codes at once tells us that there is a fuse or something in the circuit and would need diagnosis and repair".

He didn't seem to want to clear the codes and turn off the engine light for me but he did it and said it would probably come back on. It has not done so yet.

He said I can drive the car.

2000 RT/10 with 30,000 miles and stock, no headers.

I didn't get the codes as he told me what they were for.

What I don't get is that if there is a fuse or some other break in the circuit causing two O2 Sensor Heater codes then why didn't the engine light come on again today after cold start?

Does Tator want these kind of calls from Canada? Whatever the situation I would have to get the repairs done locally.

Dude. Your problem might simply be bad O2 sensors. Simple easy thing to do is replace them. Do you have access to a lift? Or as plum said, see if they come back. And next time, get the codes!

Codes help. Tator will be glad to help. Give him a call, it'll be worth it.
