I went to the track for the first time tonight in my 00 GTS.
It was pretty humid, is there anything I should do to improve my times???? I felt they should be a bit quicker.
1st time out.
ET=12.55
MPH=113
60=2.05
RT=.58

Maybe it was just too hot, it's west palm beach in the summer.

Just crack open a well deserved beer and be very happy with your times! Especially if they are your first time dragging. Your reaction time is near perfect!

If you can get your 60 foot times to a little under 2 secs you'll find your ET improving a lot. Those times are still very good for a first outing especially if your car is stock. Congratulations!

It was my first time with my viper, not my first time draging. I had a 96 cobra convert. running 13.5. So I had some practice there. I know I'm a good driver (not saying I couldn't be better). I have just seen stock GTS's closer to 12.2. I guess the humidity makes a difference, it was a sweat bath.

Moroso is a tough track to run a viper on stock tires.... I basically idle off the line for the launch, then hammer it.... the best 60' I have had at moroslow is 2.0x..... and that run was a 12.0x @ 120.8......

your MPH seems a bit low.... my first time at moroso I was running 12.5's at 116....... I was running the car up to redline.... I changed my shifting... shifting at 5300 -5400 increased my MPH to 120+! and dropped my ET's to very low 12's....

I'm sure I could drop the times by slipping the clutch off the line, I just haven't tried it yet...

good luck!

Steel00GTS, I just got back from Moroso tonight and this was my first time ever with the Viper. I know I can do much better all of my launches were horrible (either bog, wild wheel spin, or wheel hop) Only got 4 runs in. Your times were better than mine, even with the mods in my sig. It was probably 90 deg 80% humidity. I plan on going back again soon, let me know if your going back I would like to meet up with another Viper there.

60' 2.187

1/8 8.423
MPH 90.51

1/4 12.752
MPH 112.42

R/T lets not go there

So in summary to get the best ET you should not go past 3rd gear and you should switch gears around 5500 rpm. can someone explain why changing gears so early gives you more power since it is still another 1000rpm below the redline

Thanks
