I just purchased an extended warranty on my '99 in July with $100 deductible. On the last day in-warrenty no less. My experience - expect the dealer to quote "retail" unless you're dealing with Chuck or site sponsors.

The dealer quoted me $2,400 initially. But - every price is negotiable. I informed him I would be willing to pay somewhere in the $1,200-$1,500 range. The sales guy checked with the owner, countered me $1,800. I stood firm, mentioned something about loyalty and future Viper business. Came back with $1,500. I said deal. My only regret is I waited till the last minute.

Expect to pay slightly more due to year/out of warranty. If you get a quote in this range, it's a good deal.

Sadly, you usually do better buying an extended warranty while you are still covered by warranty. However, you still should be able to buy one...

I too will be calling the Viper Wizard for this same reason on my 96 RT/10.

I have just been to my dealer (in Canada) to talk about an extended warranty and found that a Chrysler Gold Plan or Powertrain Plan can be put on my car providing it is less than 6 years old and has less than 60,000Km (about 37,000 miles). Options of 1-5 years or mileage (which ever comes first) are available. A 5 year 100,000 KM (60,000 mile) Gold will cost me $4100 (about $2800 US) including tax and the 100,000 KM starts from the date of the plans purchase.
