I may be selling my 1992 Viper, VIN #53 of 200 some made the first year, and am looking for guidance on pricing. Some have led me to believe the early '92s are worth more since the low production and they were virtually hand made. It is interesting to put a 92 next to a 93 or later and see how many items are very different than the rest of the line.

It is a California car (I am the second owner, first owner lived in CA as well) in original outstanding condition with 26K miles. The only thing non original is the Sean Roe exhaust.

I appreciate your help.

James- I do not know what to tell you. Most of the time they sell for around $40,000. Your mileage is no longer considered low. So that may effect the priceing if your trying to appeal to a collector. Curious to know if the recall work (engine)was done early on. Have you updated the head gaskets? Service records may help with the sale. Good luck!

Well it is good to know that there is some interest. I have had over a dozen calls on my 96. We will see how it goes.

Funny enough, I went into Annapolis Dodge this weekend, looking to upgrade my daily driver. They had an 04 SRT on the floor.

I'm not 100% in love with the car (no disrepect to SRT owners). However, I certainly wouldn't kick it out of the garage. The salesguy was nice enough, but told me that they are firm on $5k north of sticker. I wanted to see it with the top up, but he said it was a lot of work. Geesh.

I was thinking about it until he said that. I could see maybe $80k. Maybe. But $90k is a bunch of money.

Think I will be sleeping on it.

They do go on Ebay for $72K, I've seen a couple not even get a bite at $75K, no reserve auction. Of course these are used with 4000 mile on the clock. If you want new only, go to Chuck Tator. :2tu:

I am selling to buy a GTS. I love the early engine since the car profile seems more responsive down low.

I've driven the car occasionally to make sure all components "stay in shape". After owing a couple of Ferraris and Aston Martins that had very low mileage I found total hanger queens had issues with piston blow by and suspension due to lack of use.

I'll be posting it on ebay soon unless my other ads return a buyer. Thanks for everyone's help.

It is interesting to put a 92 next to a 93 or later and see how many items are very different than the rest of the line.

From what I was told this past summer by someone in long-time management within the Viper plant, the 'hand made' part of the '92 model is not a plus to an owner. This individual made it sound like those '92's were something to really avoid.

Yes, many of the the '92's parts were one off/hand made etc. and not to be seen on later models. During assembly body panels would have to be put on a car to see how well they fit; if the fit was bad they'd have to get another one and hope for a better fit.

A given part may not fit as well, one '92 car to the other. I think it was mentioned as well that many '92 parts just are not available because job shops were making them up instead of more permanent vendor.

Other than that, it just depends on what the buyer knows, and/or whether they are a collector who's not going to drive the car and have to someday look for parts for it.

:) I hate to sound negative, and I'm certainly not wishing you any bad luck on getting a good price, just informing everyone what was conveyed to me about '92s recently by someone who's been in Viper management since (I think) the car was put into production.

:) :usa:
