Does anyone have any ideas on how to figure out what color a gen 2 Viper was without knowing what body panels may be original? I know there is no color code in the VIN, and from what I gather there is no registry that will tell you what VINs were produced in what colors. Looking at the car, I don't see any overspray so I'm fairly sure these cars were painted piece by piece before being assembled on the chassis.
For those of you following my build thread, I'm rebuilding a 2000 RT-10 that was totaled in 01 and was used as a parts car since. The shop it was used by worked on many Vipers and would put panels from other Vipers back on it when they had them. I THINK the hood may be original because the damage is consistent with the chassis damage, but there's no way to really know. I didn't see any VIN sticker on the door to match to the A pillar.
I tried a Carfax and it does not provide the color (surprisingly). Even ran the VIN through state DMV databases but came up with nothing (DMV records would be expunged after that long of a time period).
Any other ideas on how to figure this out?
