The car:

97 GTS
smooth tubes
k&n
6k miles
original tires (old)

Orlando speedworld. About 88-90 degrees out with a mild head wind.

60ft. 2.087
1/4 mile 12.36
mph 118.35

The car was spinning pretty bad in first and into second. Long chirp in third and fourth.

What do you guys think???

I feel pretty decent about it. I was hoping for better, but with limited traction and not the best conditions I should be pleased I guess.

Fair time. The key will be the 60 ft time. You will not set any good times without a sub 2 second 60 ft time. 1.9 with stock tires is good, but 1.6 is the best I've seen (that was done by a '01 gts with 3.55 gears and he did a 1st & 2nd gear burn out). Any 1.8 to 1.9's will set you up for a nice run.

Son in law had a 97....tubes/filters...4k miles...all else stock....he is a good driver, near perfect reaction times etc etc....best was a 11.92...123mph...it was a very hot day at the MOPAR Nationals a few years ago.....consistently ran high 11's to 12.1's....car suffered from some tire spin but 11.9 seemed to be a great time for a "stock" car....think you are in real good shape with your times so far....

Jason, nice run!

For first time out your doing great, near 2.0 on 6 year old greasy MXX3s is rocking, bottom line.

With some meats your knocking on 11's door, no problem.

I can vouch for the Kumhos, these things stick like glue, just put them on a few weeks ago, wow. First gear stab from a roll and nothing but grab, not even a chirp. Full throttle slam into second and not even a chirp. It's nuts........

Your MPH is good too, not doubting the 123 runs above, but 119ish is right in the mix.

Hopefully I'll have some 11 runs to improve on my 12.1 at 119 of last year.

Take care,

My wife ran 12.57 at either 111 or 113 mph in our 95 RT with tubes and filters - stock tires with normal air pressure

60 foot is key - she had high 1.80 60 foots after doing a smoky burnout

not bad for a 400 hp car

With my old 94 Green RT/10 I ran 12.46 @ 114mph in good conditions, cool, decent traction.

That car was stock except for Borla Exhaust...

That is why I was a little dissapointed with this run. But cooler weather and the ability to hook up should help.

Most are running low 9s bone stock. You need a lot of practice.

Just kidding. I have a tubes/filters/muffler-delete 98 RT/10 that the best I've gotten was 12.3. Haven't been able to repeat it either.

man..I need to get some new tires...I sneeze and my car looses traction.

I have 50% tread on my originals on my 96 and I think this winter they will go bye bye.

I would think anytime you get into the low 12 to 12.3 range it's a good run for a lightly modded GTS. High 11's would be a great run but not always repeatable. Just my 2 cents.

Thanks,

I wish they made the new 345 Drag Radial in the 17" size. There are a lot of 17" wheel vipers out there that could use them.

I might switch to the newer style wheels just to get the 18" Drag Radials.
