I took my 96 GTS for its first road trip today from San Jose down to Monterey, Carmel, and Big Sur. Drove down highway 17 and then the 1. Hitting those curves on 17 was fun both ways, even though there was some traffic.

Still getting accustomed to all the attention the car is getting. We stopped to get some drinks and while walking back, saw 3 guys gathered around my car, walking around it, even looking under it! It was even more surprising when one of them took out his camera and took a picture! The lady that was with them looked bored and said she would go warm up their car.

In Carmel, a guy who saw the car started "filming" with his hands and said "dude, that's a beautiful car!"

What other roads are fun to drive on here in the Bay Area?

axe,

Sounds like a nice trip down to Carmel. Did you go down for the marathon relay? "THE" other main road is called "Skyline" (HWY 35) and it runs the length of the penninsula itself. You can take beautiful and windy Big Basin Road (HWY 9) up to it from Saratoga. Go north on Skyline and you'll come to CA-84. Taking this left goes to the ocean (I'll be on it today), taking it right goes down to Woodside and back out to the 280 Freeway.

HWY 1 gives incredible vistas of the ocean once over there by Half Moon Bay or San Gregorio, but there is a lot more traffic.

Hopefully I'll meet you Tues. night at the meeting in Campbell. It'd be fun to hook up with you and a few others for a drive sometime-

Rollo
