I bet the damage is worse than he's letting on. He's also says "THIS CAR HAS A REPLACED SPEEDOMETER AND PROBABLY HAS AROUND 75,000 MILES ON IT. I JUST STARTED IT UP AND IT IS IDLEING UP AND DOWN A BIT BUT IS STRONG AS CAN BE."

So he's guessing at the mileage on the car, car has an idle problem, and his feedback from the 1st time he sold the car is:

"seller lied about listing. never told me that the water got into the pipes." So, who knows if he's being truthful this time or not. Plus, I can't believe his insurance company would give it a certificate of destruction just for the heck of it. BUYER BEWARE!

Depending on what the price goes to - it could be a good buy if for nothing else parts as the Gen 1 parts are becoming more scarce every day. Looks like a gen 2 hood on it as well in addition to the new speedo - just a few more things that make you go Hmmm?

I thought that with a COD the vehicle could not be sold in the US. That a lot of cars with a COD are sold and sent to foreign countries.
Can it be sold just not titled again?

I smell fish.....real bad......

Certificate of destruction, branded title, salvage title, junk title, rebuildable title are all the same things. Basically they say you cannot drive the car until its been established the parts have not been stolen and the vehicle has met all safety/emissions requirements for the state and manufacturing year.

Rebuilt title, reconditioned title, reconstructed title means the car was once branded and then deemed roadworthy after being repaired.

Grey Market Title, and Black Market title are cars that were brought into the US and did not meet current safety/emissions requirements, but a snafu in governement processing allowed them to be legally titled anyway (80s mercedes were notorious for these.)

Title of Export, Salvage Only title, and Scrap Titles mean the car can never be re-driven on US soil and the parts cannot be used for resale. They must be shipped out of the US or shredded/crushed whole. The biggest victims of these titles are usually crash-test cars and biologically/chemically hazzardous vehicles (like those under the towers.)

The thing that surprises me is that the dealer he took it to for the "tune-up" didn't smell fish when they looked at the odometer reading and entered it into their system  Unless that's the thing that started the whole ordeal of course :buttkick:

Here's the response I got regarding the Gen 2 hood and new speedometer:

"the guy i bought it from had more money than he know what to do with as far as i know there were no wrecks he told me he changed the odometer because he wanted white gagues that is all i was told"

so we have a FL car with A LOT of questions about it. No thanks

"THERE WAS NO WATER IN ANY OF THE FLUIDS, BUT THE INSURANCE COMPANY FREAKED AND TOTALED IT."

This makes no sense at all.
Why was the insurance company involved at all?

It is probably all [******]. But if it does run, and it looks pretty decent, it would be worth atleast $20k. That hood alone is BIG $$$. I looked into replacing my GEN1 hood for that, decided it was not worth it.

the pics in the first auction shows a rougher car with alot more issues than the pics in the current auction.

obviously nothing he says is going to make any sense because even from the current auction pics, you can tell the guy is trying to downplay the extent of the problems by now not showing as much as he did in the previous auction. clearly the guy is straddling the truth / liability fence with muddy verbage in an attempt to move this piece of garbage.

Look at the pics from the 1st auction

The paintjob on the hood is SHOT! Which he conveniently didn't post or mention in auction #2. Someone is really gonna get ripped off I'm afraid

Wow thats rediculous. I never saw the pics from the 1st auction. Seller probably just had a quick Maaco Job on the hood. So rediculous

I wouldn't spare a moment's thought of concern for anyone who would believe anything written in a used car classified ad and then buy a car off of eBay, sight unseen, no inspection. I guess there may be some people new to the car buying experience, or who may come from very rural parts of the world who may not be familiar with the concept of "puffing" when it comes to describing a used item offered for sale.

Seller seems to have a shaky E-bay history, most sellers with twice as many feedbacks don't have four bad reps and one neutral. ( Motor carefully through the grease mud , for there in lurks the skid dragon. i.e. watch yourself with this seller.)

I don't want to defend the guy, but the previous high bidder's whine was about not being told about water in the sidepipes. What did he expect? Additionally, that bidder also had another bad feedback for not going through with another vehicle purchase.

This seller had another interesting auction. Don't know what to conclude from it. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=6218&item=4634512634 Either he is an honest guy who describes things as they are, but not every defect, OR, this car was in the same garage with the other flooded cars.

Either way, it should be obvious in an inspection.

It just dosen't make sence that the Viper was in only 4 inchs of water but the car above in the same garage was flooded by 3 feet of water ( maybe his garage is stepped??)
