Has anyone in the south Florida area had experience with the arrigo dodge dealership garage? they said something that made uneasy while I'm waiting here. The service guy said that there was a "viper tech" (I don't really believe this, regardless) on site but bc of the work load today I might not have him on my car. I told them only he can touch my car. Has anyone had a problem here?

it's was nothing special, just tire balance and since i was already there i had them change the oil. but i spoke with the tech afterward, nice guy seemed to know his stuff so worries were gone. I just wanted to know for future reference if i ever needed something serious done.

Viper tech is needed for Viper specific issues. Oil changes, tires, normal service can be handled by any tech in the shop, or do it yourself ;)

my garage is too small to get jacks and ramps, plus the neighborhood I live in currently is a royal pain about any sort of work other than cleaning. thankfully i'm moving to a place where non of that will be a problem. but the main reason i asked to begin with was that i had an oil change at dodge dealer before and they used and extra quart or 2 too much oil and cause a little bit of problems, all is well though...

Now that would be a problem. A Viper tech that can't figure out the amount of oil is not worth going to. I would take the Viper to any local garage that would let you watch. Take the proper amount of oil too.

I hear ya about certain neighborhoods. I lived in San Clemente Ca. where "car washing" was deemed as vehicle maintenance and prohibited. We appealed and got approval to allow car washing only on Saturday's. Simply amazing. I could go on with other prohibitions, but don't want to hijack your thread too much!

Sorry, but I politely disagree with MoPar Steve, in that you definitely should have a Viper Tech do most of the routine work, unless you have done an extremely thorough questioning of the shop. This is due to the fact that many shops do not have lifts that are low enough and the minute an arm swings around, you could get severe scuffs on your side sills. We see this all the time, especially on Gen Is and IIs and it is easy to tell the techs did not make sure the car fit properly on the lifts. Secondly, tires and rims, again this is not something just any tech can do, and frankly many Viper techs may not do this either. Tons of shops will not even work on a Viper rim for liabilty reasons , so again question the shop if they have the proper tire machines and if they have a specialist that works with expensive /large rims? Basically, all I am stating is that routine items sound easy to do, and in most cases they are, but when folks seldom work on these cars there are items they would not even think about in a normal day of work. Consequently you are usually in better shape if a shop has a Viper Tech, as he hopefully is aware of these items. He also will likely cover your fenders and be more cautious than some places are with say a Cobalt, etc. Just things to ponder, but you paid plenty for your baby, so ask alot of questions and don't assume that since the work seems routine, it can just be done by anyone. Humans make mistakes when something is new to them, even though the task at hand appears simple.

I was just told by a dodge dealer that since they stopped making the Viper, they have done away with Viper Techs. They didn't fire the techs, there is just no longer the title of "Viper Tech"
