Does anyone have any tips for me? I have never done a gear install before and I think I want to tackle this project. I went with the OEM Dana 3.55 kit which includes the ring & pinion, pinion bearings & races, pinion seal, complete shim kit, slingers & baffles, ring gear bolts, pinion nut & washer, and crush sleeve. Is there anything else that I will be needing? Oh, I already have new Diff fluid and the additive. :2tu:

Take it to someone who knows how to setup rear ends, or you will be buying another one very soon.

Best advice you can get.

If you do decide to do it, make sure you have a dial indicator to measure backlash and watch the wear pattern closely.

will most installers know about this and know what to do :dunno:

i'd be tempted to do the install myself too, but scared to for reasons like this (i don't know what "measure backlash and watch the wear pattern closely" means in this regards)

You were already given the best info - go with Unitrax and you will not have to worry.
