Pulling up to a 3-way stop, I stop, look to the left and the kid in the truck looks like he's slowing down so I go. But he runs the stop sign and clips my rear quarter. Tailight lens is fine. Somebody give me a guestimate on a new driver's side rear quarter, bumper and wheel.

Chuck, are you OK?

All that track time and you get clipped on the street???

That blows! Check e-bay, I see quarter panels and wheels on there all the time.

Good luck,
Lance

I've got 107k now. Of course I only put about 5k of that on myself.

Chuck, I wonder if the insurance company will give you a whole new paint job, or just try to match the repair to the whole car.
Could be a problem. A dealer scratched the hood of my car while it was in their care. I had to front some money to get the whole car painted. They said they were only responsible for repainting the hood.

That's around 6K in dealer prices, 1250 for a wheel, 3500 for a quarter panel and 1250 for a bumper. Around 6 hours labor. Paint will add another 1500 at least. Add another 500 for stripes.

It can all be fixed much cheaper at a local body shop. Are the body parts damaged beyond repair. That Viper bumper can take a lot of abuse. My front bumper has kissed thrice at 10mph, 30mph and 10mph and it's still structurally ok. I'm surprised myself.

Stu, mine had the engine replaced at 95k and I had just about everything replaced inside and out since I've owned it.

It runs good, no problems.

How could he not have seen you? Sounds deliberate.

No, I'm certain it wasn't deliberate. It was a three-way stop and fairly common that people just aren't paying attention and blow past the stop sign.

So it wasn't a case of trailer trash "accidently" hitting a nice car, with their p.o.s. to vent their lifelong feelings of utter hopelessness?

Ok...But it would have made a better story that way, pity.... :)

I'd probably just fix the body panels if possible. (My car is not being handed down to posterity, or going to some museum as a prime example of showroom stock Viperdom.)
