Mike, the rear speakers in a GTS are useless. You can't hear anything above 200hz because they're pointed into the front of the tire well. Get the JL 6W3 for low end bass. Otherwise as a full range speaker they're useless.

If you want full range from the rear you could do something like this:

But it would be a custom job of course.

The rear speakers are 5.25", can some 6.5" speakers be installed without any real modifications? TIA, :2tu::2tu::2tu:

I replaced all of my speakers F&R with Alpine SPR-17S which are 6.5" as were the factory ones I took out. They do fit perfectly. Wonder why you have 5.25" in the back? You been in to the moonshine?

My rear speakers are 6.5

I replaced the rears with some Alpines and then went with Kickers KS-600 in the front doors. I like the Kickers so much the I am thinking about doing them in the back also.

This is incorrect. The reason you cant hear anything above 200hz out of the rear speakers is because they are Subwoofers and the amp has a built in crossover for them. Therefore if your keeping the stock amp your much better off replacing the rear speakers with either a 6.5component speaker, or a 6.5shallowmount subwoofer(kicker makes em). NOT a full range 2 or 3way speaker.

What is the kicker model number for this 6.5" shallow mount sub?

I seem to recall when Chrysler sourced Alpine as the supplier they specified full range speakers in the rear and components in the front. The rear speaker is a cheap full range commodity speaker. Basically a place holder.

The term "6.5" speaker" is a very broad term. The actual speaker cone can be anywhere between 5" and 5.75" depending on the design. But the mounting holes should fit. That's why you see a lot of aftermarket speakers with slots and holes to accommodate a wide range.

Mike, I replaced my back and front ones with the Alpines as well (6.5 inches diameter). Of course, I have an aftermarket amp powering them but they sound unbelievable!! No fitment issues, they are covered by the carpet and it looks completely stock.

I put those Kickers (08CVT654) in back in December, and ultimately ended up going with a 12" sub in a custom box. They're better than the stock subs, but if you're looking for pounding bass they won't be enough. The stock rear speakers are not full-range, and there is a crossover in the stock amplifier which can be turned off via the switch on the right side of the amp if you want to install full-range aftermarket speakers. Also, to replace the door speakers it's better to go with the KS60.2 component (Kicker KS60.2 (08ks602) 6-1/2" Component Systems Car Speakers Car Audio Car Audio, Video, & GPS Navigation - Sonic Electronix), which replaces the mid-range woofer and separate tweeter in each door. Plus, they drop right in--no fabbing, no epoxy.

The only tweeter door fabbing I had to do on the SPR-17S was to epoxy into the door panel the little speaker grill, and then to also epoxy the factory metal mounting plate to the back of the new driver. It otherwise used all the factory mounts/mounting locations.

I'll call that fabbing 'n gluing lite given my normal creativity.
