Had my passenger door fixed today!

My passenger on my new 2006 coupe was not opening when I used the outside door latch. I could open the door from inside. My back hatch was also not popping open with the clicker.

I had my door fixed. It was very simple. The electric switch was pulled out and there was a bent pin in the connector. The mechanic replaced the connector/switch and it fixed the problem. Very easy. My back hatch was not popping open appropriately either and he adjusted that.

I want to mention that even though my dealer has a certified Viper mechanic. I chose to use the 5 star certified mechanic that is not Viper Certified, because he is a good friend. He did a fantastic job, his name is Jody and I wouldn't trust anyone more with my car. Your mechanic can order the parts ahead of time and your car shouldn't even stay overnight.

For all of you who think it must be a Viper mechanic to work on your car....many of the parts from our cars are interchangeable with other dodge vehicles. I have a great guy who listened to me, went and looked up the parts and looked at another Viper that was in for service, so that my car didn't take long to fix. He went out of his way to do a little research....that's a good mechanic!

Get to know your mechanics either before you buy a car or when you buy a car. Get references! There are great Viper mechanics out there who aren't "certified" and I was very pleased with my experience.

Kudos to Southland Dodge! And Jody!

Kaya,

You are correct, the most important factor is the quality of the mechanic. Viper Tech's are typically the best tech's at a dealership. Vipers are like most cars mold nuts screws and mechanical commonsense.

My passenger door closes about a 1/2” in to far, and its rubbed a hole in my top. I’d like find a Viper/5-star/body shop guy, that could fix it and then realign the window with the roof etc. Until I can find someone who know what he doing and will take the time to do it right, I’m leaving it.
I may end up sending it to summer camp at Tom Sessions next year:)

I would think that someone on this forum could give you the name of a great dealership or shop. Why don't you post a thread asking who you should go to in your area.

Forums like this are great to get references from! You can also PM one of the moderators and they can hook you up with the VCA regional rep, who probably can also direct you to a great mechanic.

My rear hatch doesnt open all the way either when I hit the remote. I need to have it checked.

Bat™

I didn't think mine was either until I recently discovered you have to hold the button in for a couple of seconds to fully release it.

Hopefully that helps...

That was the same problems I was having...the hatch is so heavy that it doesn't pop up. They adjusted some stops on my rear hatch and it isn't as bad....but it still does it some. You have to pull up on the hatch as you click the hatch release. A few other cars I have seen have this same problem.
