help getting open the rear hatch.......

since some **** tried to steal my 98 GTS and messed up my key cylinder. I cant use a key to open the lock. im assuming just bust out the cylinder and look for any linkage to open the hatch???

does anyone know how to open it without a key or have an exploded veiw of the mechanism inside?


any help is greatly appreciated.

should be able to drill out the tumbler junk and turn it with a screwdriver or somethin' similar get fingerprints, hunt the perp. down like a dog

The key cylinder is held in by a nut screwed on the body of the cylinder. Can you crawl through from over the seats and remove the trunk carpet enough to get at it? (I can but I'm quite small!). I'm not sure if you'll be able to get at the key cylinder enough, I can't remember, can't remember either if you can unlatch it from inside, have a look you may be able to spring it, think theres a cable to the latch. nope not fitting but sent a good friend in to look and found nothing to help me.

SNAKBIT, I tried to hunt the sucker down but came up empty handed

I looked at mine from the inside, should be able to use a pliers to turn the back of it if you can get in there.
p.s. If you get a good wiff of the lock you should be able to track the perp by his stink!
