I am putting a lift in and need to have the garage door changed to a high lift model. Can anyone recomend an installer? I was given a quote of $1,500 for a new motor and tracks installed. Does that sound about right?

Thanks in adavance,
Mike

When i lived in CT I had the same thing installed by Danbury Overhead Door. Job was well done and the pricing was similar to the qoute you received. This was in 2006.

Is that price for a new door, tracks and motor or the high lift tracks and wall mounted motor? I recently used Overhead Door of Branford to replace all three of my garage doors. I forgot the contact's name but they did a great job and the price was fair. They're located everywhere but here's the Branford, CT number:

29 Flax Mill Road
Branford, CT 06405
Phone: (800) 882-8304
Fax: (203) 483-0187

The door will stay but it would be a new wall mount motor & tracks. I was qutoed a Liftmaster 3800 Jackshaft. Sounds impressive but I hope it can handel the door (700lbs).

700 pounds? :omg: Maybe they're installing two LiftMasters.

Well, they're not high lift doors but they did leave me the extra track material so I could raise the door if and when the time comes for a lift. I have 13' foot ceilings in the garage so clearance won't be an issue. :D The doors I had put in when the house was built were crap... they put in what looks like 1" cardboard doors. They fell apart and I ran into one with the wifes SUV. I installed 2" thick, insulated Raynor doors and they're great. I now have a nice air-tight seal in the garage and it felt warmer working in the garage this past winter.
