when car is warmed up on a 50 degree day?

Mine would go down to the second mark above 100 degrees on the highway, but normal temp in traffic.

Matt,

The lowest water/coolant temperature possible after the engine is warmed up,is the thermostat(s)rating.

A 190 thermostat will only open when the coolant in the engine has reached 190.

If you gauge is reading about 100,either the gauge or sensor are bad or the thermostat is stuck open.

I will guess that it is the thermostat since i believe than on a Viper, the 'faillure mode" is open.

Seriously though, I don't think my gas mileage has gotten worse, but like I said, the temp acts normal in stop and go traffic. It must be the thermostat.

In cool weather, it is difficult for the engine to stay warm at highway speed, even with a hot thermostat installed. You could try dropping down a gear and turning more R's to make more heat if you need it.
