With 3.07 or 3.55 rear? I need this to analyze an accident and my viper is no longer :-(. I wasn't driving it nor a passenger. Thanks!

3.07 = 2500 rpm

3.55 = 2850 rpm

Member 345sbspinning posted a very good spreadsheet with very ratio, gear and speed you could want.

Good luck,

George

1st 2.66
2nd 1.78
3rd 1.30
4th 1.00
5th 0.74
6th 0.50
Effective Final Drive 3.07 or 3.55
Overall Top Gear 1.54

So

2732 in third with a 3.08
3120 in third with a 3.55

With a 27 inch tall tire

Bingo, need that as well for overall ratio if you've done aftermarket wheels.

It can change it a good bit but when your looking at 50mph in 3rd and looking to see if RPM had any effect on what happened, I would say no. 5-10% change in RPM does not do much, though it does make 6th gear actually useful.

Even with run craps and 3.55 gears and more power then stock I cannot break my tires loose in 3rd gear.

So at 60mph it would have been 3744 with 3.55... thanks a bunch. I think the event wasn't so much about the spin as about the letting off in a down pointing left turn. Once the investigation closes I will post something.

Down left turn with short gears is more then enough to unsettle the car, add in letting off the gas that would put it over the edge.

With shorter gears once you are sliding if you jam on the gas to get back in powerband its a lot more touchy to get traction.
