im using a quart evey 500 miles

Too much. A quart every 1000 is probably the high side of "normal". Unless you're thrashing it around every weekend like Chuck!

Heck, my motors are tight. I NEVER have to add oil and like City said, I thrash 'em. 80K miles on one and 30K track miles on the other.

I did develop an oil leak at the timing cover. Larry Macedo fixed it up a while back and haven't had any probs.

if I remember correctly, shouldnt a brand new engine use quite an amount of Oil in the first 3-5000 miles??? I know I have seen it printed somewhere before... at 2K miles, things arent seated very well yet.
