This summer I'm driving my Viper from Saskatchewan, Canada, to California and back.. It's a trip over 3000 miles through various temperatures and terrain. How can I make sure that the car is up for this trip?

Of course I will have it checked at the dealer.. (engine oil, tranny oil, other fluids, tires, suspension etc..). But is there anything important that any of you guys found out from experience would be a good idea to check?
My worst fear is the car quits on me and I have to leave it behind for a while.

Thanks in advance,
Erik

Make sure you have some sort of roadside assistance/towing program. One breakdown and it is worth it.

3K is a long haul. Take lots of AC/DC, Aerosmith and Theodore Nugent.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMEN bro :p :headbang: !
May I suggest these AC/DC albums:
The Razors Edge, Blow Up Your Video, Back In Black, For Those About To Rock (We Salute You) :2tu:
And a special, well reccomended suggestion: Aerosmith with their album Honkin' On Bobo

Oh and some Kid Rock songs too :D Cowboy, Walk This Way remix (Run D.M.C. feat. Aersomith & Kid Rock), Lay It On Me, Forever, Picture (with Sheryl Crowe), Heaven (Uncle Kracker feat. Kid Rock),

Oh, and the Viper's Unofficial Theme Song (right next to Cowboy) :D :

:headbang: :2tu: American Bad Ass :2tu: :headbang:

Some others:
Kelis - Trick Me, Milkshake, Young Fresh 'N New
Apollo Four Forty - Can't Stop The Rock

The Eagles - Desperado (I have a very nice live recorded song if you like me to send it to ya :D )

Enrique Iglesias - Be With You, Hero (a VERY nice song IMHO  ), Maybe (VERY good as well), Don't Turn Out The Lights, Bailamos, Rhythm Divine

Faith Hill - Cry, I Can't Do That Anymore, She's A Wild One (pretty appropriate no :D ?), Piece Of My Heart, Mississippy Girl,
:2tu: That's How Love Moves :2tu: (I will honestly confess that this song is SO beautiful that it made me lose some tears when I heard it the first time, still does when I sing along with it  ),
There You'll Be, You Can't Lose Me, Bed Of Roses
Moby - Flower :2tu:
George Thorogood - Ride On Josephine :2tu:

Also, anything of fellow Canadian Shania Twain (I personally got EVERY SINGLE album and one or two singles :p )

Some Sheryl Crowe songs, Some Lean Rhymes songs, a couple Phil Collins ones, ...

Crap, did I leave anything out :p ?
If you haven't guessed it already I am a HUGE music addict  :p

I'll second the "just like any car" comment. Only issue might be getting a flat on the rear tires fixed, as some places can't handle the width.

For my cross-country trips, I also carry (as someone else mentioned) an extra serpentine belt, a flat fixing kit, a small air-compressor, and a small set of tools. In my case, the trick is wedging all of this and luggage into the RT's trunk, but that skill comes to every RT owner.

In three 3400 mile trips, I've only had one mishap: I had a flat in Gallup, NM. The place I took it to almost tried to jack up the car by the side-sill. So, you'll want to make sure you know where your jack points are and can convey this information to others.

One more AC/DC - Ballbreaker. Probably as good as Back in Black if not better.

Hmm thanks for the suggestion, I will look it up for sure :2tu:
It's from the Brian Johnson timeframe :D I like his voice way better than that of Bon Scott because Bon's voice just isnt that raw as Brian's :p

Thanks for the info guys! I have the maxcare warranty from Chrysler with road side assistance.. That could become necessary. Might bring a spare belt just in case (didn't think of that one) :)

Regarding the AC/DC tracks.. Personally I have a lot of Metallica in the stereo, which will satisfy my needs :) I'm from the newer generation and don't listen to AC/DC that much ;)
