in the market for 18" or 19" wheels and i'm interested in either HRE 545, 547 or 847. Also thinking about black centers for my yellow RT/10. Whats the R versions for example 547R? Do you have pics i could look at? thanks for all your help..DK

Definetly the 547 or 847. I personally think the 547 look best on a RT and the 847's on a GTS IMO.

R is the deeper dish smooth lip version.

YellowFever in San Diego just finished having the centers of his HRE's done in black. Maybe he can jump in here with a pic for you.

Dimitrious, You need to talk to me before buying. I'm setting up HRE wheels on my website and can get you a great deal as I'll be ready to send a few orders into them in 2 weeks.

There is a significant difference in the R versions, I'll explain.
A 19" HRE has a 18" center with a lip making the other inch to bring it to a 19".
A 19" R has a 19" center with a flat lip making up the 19". You actually get a larger center rim and the flat lip gives the illusion that it is deeper from the outside of the tire to the rim. A little more expensive but well worth it in my opinion.

I didn't like the way the 546 looked on my yellow RT/10. The HRE is a racing rim(3-piece), and I believe it just looks better on a GTS. Now the Purner 19 should look just fine on an RT/10 if you want the 5 spoke look. Just beware that the VR1 Forgeline will stick out of your fender a little if you go this route. I can't lower my '95 with them on without BAD results. They look really cool though if you never plan to lower.

Dimitrios, Wow, looks great. What are the stats on the one pictured? Brand, size, etc. That lip is huge! Looks like you could lay down on it and take a nap it's so big. Also, looks like 19" or even 20".

Inquiring minds want to know...

Personally, I only like black wheels on yellow cars if there is some polish to break up the darkness. On that wheel, with the polished lip, it does that. I think it would look fantastic. Makes the car look a little more stealth than the average yellow car does, IMHO.

The style is leaning more toward "color matching" the wheels, that is matching the center of the wheel to the car color. (That is as an alternative to fully polished.)

Occasionally you'll see a set of black wheels on a silver car, but I would say black wheels are showing up more on black cars than anything else.

Personally I think black centers would not look good on a yellow car unless it had the black stripes. And yellow centers, well I won't even go there...

The picture of that 540R is deceiving in that is shown on a 996 Porsche Turbo. The wheel is probably only 10-11" wide but the back spacing is such that it produces a 4+" lip. The viper wheels, while impressive in their own right, don't offer that level of back spacing, and unless you want your rear wheels sticking out beyond the fender, the lip will be proportionately less.

I'm looking at the black center wheel photo you posted along side of your car Pic to the left and I still think your stock wheel looks better. But Hey I know you want that deep dish look. Those 547's are the s***

I don't like dark wheels on any car. They blend too much with the tires and simply don't stand out. Shiny wheels get the most attention/comments.

THe 545's are my favorite, did you get them new and have you had any issues ?

I have been reading a lot of quality issues on the other site surrounding the HRE's lately ?

thanks
