I had a Hurst shifter installed on my 96 GTS. Somehow shifting from 3rd to 4th it went into 2nd. I also tried shifting it when the car sits statinary, it seems like the shifter doesn't return to center freely after I push to the left. Did I do somthing wrong, or do I need harder tension spring in the shifter??

Derek,
I had the exact opposite. My stock shifter went from third to second at the track all the time. I switched to the Hurst, and no problems since. It has taken a long time to get used to the differences in the two, but, for me the Hurst is much better. Give it a little time and see if you become more comfortable with it.

it doesn't have enough tension to return to the center(neutral position), it kind of stops at between second and forth. I talked to Chunk Tator, he said that maybe it needs more time to break in. Over all it's much better than the stock one.
